Tahyna Tozzi MacManus is an Australian director, writer, and producer.
She began her career as an actress, starring in television series including Blue Water High, CSI, and Charlie’s Angels, as well as film blockbusters such as X-Men Origins: Wolverine and The Ever After.
She later transitioned behind the lens, focusing on storytelling that emphasises social commentary and gender parity.
Her narrative directorial debut, OREN, toured the international festival circuit and won multiple awards, including Best International Film at the Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival.
She has since continued to work extensively across film, television, and advertising. In 2020, she released her debut documentary feature MuM: Misunderstandings of Miscarriage to both critical and audience acclaim. The film premiered on STAN Australia, followed by a release on Netflix, and continues to screen worldwide—helping to dismantle the shame and stigma surrounding pregnancy loss.
She is also the co-founder of the all-female-led production company Neon Jane, alongside producer Kelly Tomasich, and the co-director of the Australian Women’s Film Festival (now in its fifth year), celebrating Australian women in film and honouring those who have made significant contributions to the industry.
Most recently, she served as Head of Content and Community for 36 Months, a movement founded by radio personality Michael 'Wippa' Wipfli and FINCH CEO Rob Galluzzo, which successfully campaigned for legislative change to raise the minimum age of social media citizenship from 13 to 16.
Tahyna’s second documentary feature, ABBA & ELVIS in the Outback, is scheduled for release on SBS Australia on July 4, 2025.
Valentina is my middle name and cine is "cinema" in Italian, so you might say it was nod to my Italian heritage. My career has spanned over many roles so I needed something that felt like it encompassed who I am and what I do,
so here we are! Tahyna x
